On Holiday With My Boys

We have been back from Switzerland for some time now, but I've been too busy to blog. Had 5 days away, spreading our love between Gryon, Riedji and Seyselle (in France). The hostel in Gryon was not very hostel-like at all, but was a huge chalet with a couple of dorm rooms (for Lauri and Ryan and a strange selection of other travellers) and private rooms (James and I had our own en-suite room with balcony - and, as luck would have it, paper-thin walls!). We spent our time walking (in the rain), cooking and eating fondue and drinking vast quantities of gin and port (much to the bemusement of the other people in the hostel who couldn't afford anything more than the beer commonly known as Swiss Piss).

We were joined at the chalet by Virginia - who spent her evening fielding medical and narcotic questions from James - and Carrie - whom we simply forced to drink vast quantities of red wine. Hangovers all round. And lots of walks in the rain. Again.

Highlights of the holiday:

- Ryan having to listen to two of his room-mates rather pathetically attempting to have sex at 3 am (her: "You can't just take my hand and put it on your cock. You have to get me horny first"... oh dear!)

- Stripping the chalet of its entire supply of gin - we stayed 2 days and left three empty bottles behind. Most of the glory must go to Ryan, who took his gin-drinking responsibilities so seriously he started knocking it back at breakfast.

- Watching from our balcony in Gryon at the antics of various males at the hostel trying to impress the females with wood-chopping and fire-building skills. We half expected The Finn to run off with his elk rifle in order to provide meat! Such manly men.

- The dessert trolley in Seyselle. Lauri won the "who can eat the most portions of pudding" competition: he had 4.

- Spending so much time with My Boys and My Dreamy New Boyfriend. We all made it back alive and are still on talking terms! James also managed to find a cure for my fear of flying, which I won't reveal on here as it may breach blogspot's decency regulations!
